[ARCHIVED] Roads closed in downtown Bel Air

Alert: Road Closed

Pennsylvania Avenue has been closed between Main Street and Hickory Avenue due to a utility pole fire late Wednesday afternoon. Main Street has reopened as of Wednesday evening after being closed earlier between Churchville Road and Lee Street while BGE and the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company investigated a potential natural gas leak.

If you are driving through the area be on the lookout for inoperable traffic signals affected by power outages. Treat these signals as a four-way stop. If you are heading downtown to celebrate the New Year, please contact any establishments you plan to visit to ensure they are open.

In addition, telephone service at Bel Air Town Hall and other Town offices has been affected due to the fire. Non-emergency calls to the Police Department have been transferred to the Harford County Department of Emergency Services. Call 911 in case of a life-threatening emergency. As a reminder, all Town of Bel Air offices will be closed tomorrow, Thursday January 1, for New Year's Day.

Follow the Bel Air Police Department on social media for updates on the current emergency situation.
